Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who do I call if I want to apply and how am I contacted in return?
You are right where you should be to apply! Skyservice does not accept telephone calls
regarding applications. Instead, we encourage full use of our online system. Go to
Recruitment Process for a complete overview of our hiring procedures and requirements.
2. What routes do crew fly? Are they away from home for long periods of time?
As a charter airline, the destinations we fly to are dictated by our Tour Operators and the
seasons. In the winter season (November through April) our flying programme is
predominantly southern (ie, Dominican Republic, Mexico and the Caribbean). Typically,
this means that crew will operate to a destination and back again all in the same day.
Some of the exceptionally longer routes with flying times over 14 hours; may result in a
short layover. In the summer season (May through October) we have a mixture of
southern and overseas flying. Routes that we travel to in Europe include, Italy, Serbia,
Croatia and Portugal. At these destinations, crew may enjoy slightly longer layovers.
3. How many hours does a Flight Attendant work per day?
This can vary significantly, again, often dependent on the season and routes worked.
Flight Attendants typically fly between 75-85 hours a month. Crew can offer to work on
their days off as well. Cabin Crew who have worked a cumulative of 475 hours are
guaranteed a minimum salary of 75 hours per month. Of course, any hours worked in
excess of 75 are paid to the employee as well. Flight crew who are on layover receive
per diem so that they can purchase food while away from home. Hotels and
transportation, when on a layover, are covered by the airline.
4. What is the Skyservice uniform like? Do crew have to pay for it?
The Skyservice uniform is a distinctive one! Designed by acclaimed Toronto designer
Simon Chang, the ladies’ uniform is a striking blend of cranberry and grey pieces which
allows our Cabin Cew to mix and match. The gentlemen’s uniform is steel grey in colour
and it, too, has a number of alternate components. The Skyservice uniform is provided to
its crewmembers without cost to the employee. A monthly allowance is also given to
Cabin Crew so that they can properly maintain the fit, cleanliness and professional look of
the uniform.
5. What are the working conditions like onboard a Skyservice aircraft?
Our Cabin Crew at Skyservice Airlines work on several different aircraft types and with a
wide variety of onboard equipment. Therefore they must be physically fit to perform the
functions and responsibilities of the job. Aside from having to operate emergency and
safety equipment, Cabin Crew on a regular basis push and pull heavy trolleys, lift
luggage and metal canisters filled with supplies and work on their feet for extended
periods of time. Additionally, Cabin Crew may experience a loud work environment,
turbulence, stressful delays, medical emergencies and customer service issues.
6. What are the minimum requirements for a Flight Attendant position at Skyservice
Airlines?
Please review our standards under Minimum Requirements for a comprehensive list of
requirements and expectations.
7. What training is required to become a Flight Attendant?
Skyservice offers an intensive five week training program. Candidates must successfully
complete the course with a passing mark of 85% or greater on all written, verbal and
hands-on examinations. The Initial Training course consists of safety and emergency
procedures training as well as first aid and inflight service.
8. What tips for success do you have for me in my application to Skyservice Airlines?
Apply for your passport if you do not already have one and be ready to show us that you
are a dedicated and enthusiastic customer service provider.
Cabin Crew Recruitment
· The Recruitment Process
Accepting Resumes
Resumes are accepted online throughout the year. We have established separate email
addresses for each of our Cabin Crew Bases (both Permanent and Seasonal) so that
interested applicants can select the appropriate location they would like to work at. We
encourage applicants to update our records every six months.
Invitations for Interview
Typically, Skyservice recruits for all bases in the early Fall. Resumes are rigorously
screened and only those candidates who meet our minimum requirements are contacted
for an interview. When the decision is made to interview an applicant, an invitation is
sent to the individual via email. It is very important then that applicants ensure their email
address is correct and complete so as not to miss out on an opportunity.
The Invitation
Pre-selected dates and times are set by the Company for the scheduling of interviews.
As Skyservice conducts interviews for its bases all within a short period of time, there is
little flexibility in the matter of when an interested applicant can attend. For this reason,
we are unable to accommodate personal preferences. The date and time which has
been noted on the invitation for an interview is, therefore, a firm one.

The Interview
Candidates attending a Skyservice interview should be prepared to spend a few hours at
the recruiting venue. Applicants will be greeted by current Cabin Crew at the door and
asked to present all the documentation which they have been requested to bring with
them. At that point they will be escorted to a waiting room for their interview. In cases
where applicants have indicated a fluency in one of the languages being sought, they will
also have to attend language testing by one of our qualified language testers.

Paperwork Completion
As part of the interview process, candidates will be given a number of forms to complete
while waiting for their interview. The first is a Skyservice Application Form which can be
found online on this site. This form is fairly comprehensive so candidates who would like
to complete the form and print it to bring to the interview are welcome to do so.
Additionally, candidates are asked to complete a Security Clearance Form which allows
the Company to approach the RCMP to conduct background checks.

Passport/Visa Applications
While it is not a requirement for hiring, candidates who already have a Canadian passport
or a passport with Canadian Landed Immigrant Status paperwork attached, are in a
better position to fast track into a training course. Passport applications can take as long
as 8-12 weeks. It can be appreciated then that should a training session commence
within a month of the initial interview, applicants may not have the required documents in
hand to actually operate as a crewmember upon completion of their course. The
Company must take this information into consideration when making offers of
employment.

Uniform Fittings
Prior to starting Initial Training, successful applicants will be sent for a uniform fitting. At
the same time they will receive a package from our Cabin Safety Training Department
that will start them on the training programme. Applicants should be reminded that Initial
Training is an intensive and lengthy requirement that will require their complete focus for
the entire five weeks.

Reference Checks
Skyservice Airlines does conduct reference checks before any offer of employment.
Candidates selected for an interview are asked to bring three professional references
along with them. These will be used, with the applicant’s permission, as the candidate
successfully progresses through the recruitment process.

Training
Candidates who are successful at obtaining employment with Skyservice Airlines will be
placed in a five week Initial Training program. The program typically runs Monday to
Friday for a minimum of eight hours a day. On some days (and even weekends) trainees
will also be asked to come to work in the early morning or late evening in order to get
onboard an aircraft or to use simulator equipment. No time off is permitted from training;
candidates are expected to attend each and every class. Strict guidelines are set as to
the grade achievement each individual should obtain on any test or practical session.
Trainees should make no mistake; Initial Training is stressful and demanding. Individuals
should not expect to be able to balance full or part time employment elsewhere while
completing the training.

· Documentation Requirements
All Cabin Crew of Skyservice Airlines must have in their possession a current Canadian
passport. Employees who hold a different passport will also have to carry proof of
Canadian citizenship and quite possibly, a number of different working visas. For
individuals who do not hold a valid Canadian passport, we recommend that you read the
following link to ascertain what paperwork requirements you might require in order to
operate as a Flight Attendant with Skyservice Airlines. (add link to government website
