Position Summary

Performs a variety of services related to the safety and comfort of passengers aboard flights. Provides customer service involving passenger interaction to answer questions or address concerns. Follows established Inflight guidelines to provide for the comfort and safety of passengers and handle In-Flight emergencies and security

Essential Functions

Essential Functions:

Conducts preflight safety check of emergency equipment and conveys information to pilots.

Ensures cabin security, passengers seated for takeoff/landing and provides passenger count to pilots.

Prepares and secures doors and announces departure to passengers over the PA system.

Performs evacuation of passengers, if necessary.

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.

Communicate clearly and converses effectively with persons of divergent ethnic, cultural and educational backgrounds.

Ability to quickly identify core customer needs and provide persuasive solutions, as well as cross-sell products

Count, multiply, add, subtract, and calculate figures and amounts to validate galley inventories and onboard sales.

Must successfully complete Inflight Training and Annual Recurrent Training.

Completes departure demonstration of safety and emergency equipment.

Completes final cabin count, compliance checks and final galley check.

Obtains and evaluates information and determines priority of responsibilities and actions.

Follows Federal Aviation Regulations as required.

Ensures proper loading and storage of carry on luggage prior to and during the flight.

Sets up galley, brews coffee, checks supplies, stows meals and verifies count.

Serves meals and/or beverages, collects and stows all beverage and meal service items prior to landing.

Maintain a well groomed and professional appearance by wearing the company uniform as outlined in the Flight Attendant Grooming Standards.

Serves alcoholic beverages as needed.



Qualifications

Qualifications:

High school graduation or equivalency.

MUST BE 21 years of age to begin the interview process.

Must be able to read, write and fluently speak and understand the English language.

Must possess a valid unrestricted passport.

1 to 2 years of customer service experience.

Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.

Proven record of sales success including the ability to quickly identify core customer needs and provide persuasive solutions.

Provide effective leadership, direction and assistance during emergencies including aircraft evacuation, administering first aid to ill or incapacitated customers, and unusual incidents (bomb threats, hijackings, delayed flights, severe weather conditions, turbulent flights, etc.).

A genuine and enthusiastic service oriented personality with ability to present solutions, products and services that create customer loyalty and brand awareness.

Ability to recognize and anticipate customer needs and being observant for those who may have special needs or require additional assistance.

Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Working Conditions:

Equipment Emergency equipment, aircraft doors and exits, flight stairs, galley equipment, beverage and meal carts, cashless cabin device, computers for schedule selection and company communication.



Work Environment

Working environment subject to varying climate conditions, air turbulence, changing locations, variable hours, dry air, noise levels from engines and other equipment, dim lighting and confined spaces.

Working environment is typically fast-paced and physically demanding.

Work shifts/hours vary including weekends, evenings and holidays.



Physical Effort

Perform frequent repetitive motions, to include bending at the waist and knees and sustaining those positions for extended periods of time.

Must have 20/20 (or sufficient) vision and hearing to safely perform the essential functions of the position.

Ability to hear, interpret and respond to onboard chime systems, call buttons and announcements or direction given over interphone and public address system.

Ability to stand throughout most of work shift.

Perform in-flight duties while in a pressurized cabin for extended periods of time.

Possess the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits.

Operate door and window exits in manual and emergency modes. (Can include weight of 33 lb window exit and investigate door emergency mode resistance).

Push/pull/move a galley cart weighing 100 lbs.

Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 50 lbs occasionally and/or up to 35 lbs frequently.

Ability to lift a 35 lb luggage (occasionally - bags heavier than 50 lbs) from the floor to 33 (i.e. floor to passenger seat).

Ability to lift a 35 lb luggage from 33 to 67 (i.e. passenger seat to overhead compartment). Bags heavier than 35 lbs should be checked.

Ability to reach into overhead compartments with a height of 67 and depth of 28.

Ability to be properly secured in the cabin jumpseat by the safety belt and shoulder harness without the use of seatbelt extensions.

Ability to balance and reach across seats and serve passengers.
