Position Summary

Leads the training team in development/design of training curriculum and programs to match Inflight Department training and organizational requirements and needs.

Essential Functions

Provide leadership for staff members as they conduct FAA and DOT regulated training and any other training required by the Inflight Department, including: implementing new and changing materials and educational tools.
Perform needs analysis, design, development and production of training curriculum and materials to meet FAA requirements and corporate objectives
Develop and conduct training programs using a variety of delivery systems including traditional and nontraditional methods and multi media.
Provide administrative management, including assist in recruiting and selection of Training Video Coordinator
Create and maintain training records in accordance with FAA and Company Policies, and audit 25% of all regulatory training files on a monthly basis for accuracy and compliance with current Federal Aviation Regulations and company policy.
Manage the Line Instructor program.
Manage the Check Flight Attendant program.
Oversee staff and flight attendant trainees during initial training, including performance assessment, performance management, counseling, coaching, administration of progressive counseling and terminating trainees as needed.
Assess individual and organizational performance issues and recommend or develop training and non-training enhancements or solutions.
Meet regularly with the Inflight Quality Assurance Managers regarding training curriculum and its relation to actual line performance audits. Permit QA findings to be a part of change to curriculum, and written and practical testing.
Interact with Director of Training and Standards in personnel matters including interviewing, hiring, discipline, and terminations, and monitoring of adherence to departmental performance and attendance standards.
Oversee the writing, design, production and dissemination of annual recurrent study guide and ensure its compliance with FAA regulations; provide assistance revising the Flight Attendant Manual and Inflight policy.
Provide constructive feedback to the pilot training team members to ensure collaboration on training goals.
Work directly with the Director of Training and Inflight during the development of training courses to ensure quality control and effectiveness of all training.
Manage special projects and committees.
Act as liaison between training and the FAA Principle Operating Inspector and Cabin Safety Inspector.
Serve as an internal consultant for company and network with other airlines.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree preferred.
3+ years prior experience in a leadership role, involving FAR 121 regulated airline training.
Professional experience in teaching, training or adult education.
Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet.
Computerized Preferential Bid, FliCA bidding system and Bornemann crew tracking system experience preferred.
Prior experience in the Inflight Department, including FAR 121 regulated airline training, desirable.


Additional Details

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Current knowledge of the Airbus A319 and A318.
Ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent projects and priorities.
Ability to demonstrate superior instructional and facilitation skills
Skill in interpersonal communications, leadership, delegation, collaboration, critical-thinking, and problem solving.
Knowledge and understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations.

Working Conditions:

Equipment -
PC, LCD projector, Overhead projector, Slide projector, Television, VCR, CD, DVD. Airbus 319/318 Cabin Trainer.

Work Environment -
Will have several different environments to work in including normal office, classroom, outdoors, the airport, on aircraft and at CAE Training Center, etc.
Schedule may include: travel, extended working hours early morning and late night to be dictated by Denver station operations in accordance with station operational hours and hanger hours. Must be willing to work on the aircraft as a regular crewmember and for IOE training and proficiency checks.

Physical Effort -
Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
