Description
Manager, Inflight Base

Reports To:
Manager, Inflight Services

Summary:
Provide leadership, planning and management of flight
attendants to ensure the safe and successful completion
of all Mesaba flights.

People Excellence
Establish, support and maintain agreements between AFA
and department through effective interaction with union
representatives.
Promote and maintain open lines of communication with
all Flight Attendants and Director.
Oversee flight attendants’ probationary periods and
ensure standards of operation are met.
Manage flight attendant performance, including
dependability and attendance, injury reporting, customer
interactions, and inflight operational performance and
conduct quality assurance audits.
Thoroughly conduct internal investigations.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, within
multiple functions and occasionally across the
department. Some external customer, vendor, manager
and/or regulatory official communication may be required.
Listen, understand and negotiate within multiple functions
and occasionally across the department.
Provide effective direct and indirect team leadership
across multiple functions to attain goals and deliver
results.
Build and maintain a collaborative and engaged
environment within the function by providing positive,
encouraging and informative input/feedback.
Recruit, hire, train and/or develop staff within the function to
ensure all direct reports are adequately and properly
trained for their duties and responsibilities. Establish
career paths for staff development, set skill depth and
provide on-the-job training as needed.
Prepare measurable function goals and objectives to meet
all position objectives, as well as department and division
goals. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely
basis and in accordance with company policy.
Establish and maintain internal and external relationships
and networks within the function that promote effective
achievement of primarily operational and some strategic
objectives.

Business Excellence
Remain fully informed on all updated company policies,
procedures and Federal Aviation regulations.
Ensure Flight Attendant compliance with established
company, division, and FAA policies and procedures to
ensure consistency with all service and safety standards.
Identify functional needs and goals, as well as operational
concerns.
Establish objectives/initiatives to achieve base and
division goals, and ensure optimum use of resources to
remain within established budgetary guidelines.
Work to resolve problems while ensuring all policies and
procedures are properly adhered to.
Oversee liquor fund monitoring and collection process.
Oversee the administration of random drug testing.
Maintain proficiency as a line Flight Attendant and act as
flight attendant to cover critical staff shortages.
Assess situations using advanced skills or integrate
multiple alternatives to reach timely and appropriate
solutions.
Manage function problems and projects to resolve issues,
aggressively pursuing the function’s business objectives.
Manage function activities to ensure business objectives
are met on time, within budget and with maximum
accuracy and quality.

Strategic Excellence
Acquire and apply new and innovative approaches within
the function.
Effectively translate ideas into actions within the function
and advance them within the department.
Effectively prepare the function for the future while
maintaining current success and momentum.
Effectively lead change within the function, applying a

Qualifications
5 – 8 years of experience in inflight operations, or 2 – 3
years experience as a qualified Flight Attendant.

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. (Required)
No licensures or certification required; (Required)
General business knowledge required; (Required)
Additional Qualifications
Basic computer skills, to include proficiency in MS Office
products. (Required)
Flight Attendant qualification highly desired. (Required)
2 years experience managing people. (Preferred)
Some college coursework. (Preferred)

Working Conditions
Office environment, gate operations and aircraft.

Working Hours
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday-Friday or as needed to meet
operational requirements. On-call 24 hours per day/7 days
a week.
