Description: The Compass Airlines flight attendant will perform or assist in the performance of all in-flight safety, customer service and cabin preparation duties, along with communicating and cooperating with the flight and ground crews, as an individual contributor or member of a team. General Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be legal to work in the United States (A citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work);
Must be in possession of a valid United States or foreign passport with applicable VISAs. Must have the right to travel freely in and out of the United States, to and from all cities served by Compass Airlines without restriction. Passport must include legal name.
Must agree to take and successfully pass a mandatory pre-employment drug screen, and must be willing to submit to random drug/alcohol testing;
Must agree to a 10-year background history, which the Company will confirm;
Will be required to successfully complete Inflight Training;
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience;
One year previous flight attendant experience preferred;
Two years direct customer service experience preferred;
Will be required to do everything to make sure that each customer’s needs are always considered;
Alternative work schedules (shift work);
Outdoor exposure to weather;
On-Call during normal off time (pager or beeper);
Extensive business travel by air (more than six flights per year);
Typically standing or walking during work;
Must have 20/40 correctable vision in each eye;
Must have a minimum height of 5’2” (without shoes);
Must have ability to work days, nights, holidays, weekends and extended hours away from home;
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards;
Must be willing to work on an on-call basis with little notice;

Uses PC skills daily in order to perform duties. These include Microsoft Outlook for mail.
Physical Endurance:
Must have ability to push/pull/lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs and be able to push, pull, or move a beverage cart (approximately 250 lbs.);
Should possess the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits;
Demonstrated ability to work in aircraft aisles and galleys, standing, reaching (extended in front and to the side of the body and above the head), walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, working in a cramped or awkward positions, squatting, and sitting for extended periods;
Height and weight proportionate to maintain a professional appearance; body size cannot exceed specific aircraft dimensions. Must have the ability to walk and fit comfortably down the aircraft aisle, fit quickly through any exit, and fit in to the jump seat and harness without any modifications;
Must have ability to hear and respond to customer and crew communications in situations with high background noise.
Communication Skills:
Will be required to communicate clearly and effectively in English; this includes both written and verbally. Must read and comprehend verbal and written instructions and procedures
Will be required to effectively gauge the customer’s professional needs and relay information in a professional and friendly manner
Should be comfortable with public speaking and addressing a large group of people
Bilingual capabilities (particularly French and/or Spanish) is preferred.
Mathematical Ability:
Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations regarding sales transactions, providing correct change and accounting for handling cash sales proceeds.
Reasoning Ability:
Must have ability to apply common sense in understanding and dealing with the flying public. Will deal with a variety of emotion, frustration and unusual behavior. Situations should be dealt with diplomatically and professionally;
Must be aware of, and able to recognize and respond to, a variety of emergency situations, including medical emergencies and security-related situations;

Assists passengers with carry-on items;
Provide high quality in-flight (beverage, meal, and other customer needs) service, consistent with Company’s standards, to ensure a positive customer experience;
Reads and interprets service and emergency instructions and communicates information to customers and crew;
Operates mechanical equipment and safety equipment to include: stairs, oxygen systems, aircraft doors (pushing and pulling), evacuation slides/rafts, fire extinguishers, galley equipment, communications equipment, and lighting systems;
Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

This position is a Federal Aviation Administration Covered position, which is subject to mandated alcohol and drug testing. FLIGHT ATTENDANT
JOB OBJECTIVE
Responsible for the safety and service of passengers on board
Mesaba Airlines aircraft and compliance with all Company policies,
procedures and Federal regulations. Maintains a high level of
energy while working independently and in a team environment.
Represents Mesaba Airlines in a positive manner in all interactions.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Achieve and maintain FAA flight attendant certification and perform
duties as a flight attendant.
Maintain reliability and on-time departures to support airline
operational performance.
Adhere to established uniform and appearance guidelines.
Project a professional image and attitude that commands respect
for the position and Company.
Perform basic procedures of check-in, pre-flight, boarding, pre-
departure, inflight, and arrival per safety and service standards.
Maintain all safety related functions while on duty including;
passenger safety demonstration, emergency equipment
verification, securing the aircraft cabin, and handling any aircraft
emergency.
Handles passenger situations using leadership skills per Company
guidelines in situations including medical events, special needs
customers and security situation.
Maintain the Company cleanliness focus by inspecting, grooming
and maintaining aircraft cabin interior.
Ability to handle customer service challenges per departmental
customer service standards.
Comply with departmental procedures for on board food and
beverage service, sales and deposit requirements.
Assist customers as needed with location for carry-on luggage to
meet Federal regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous public contact/customer service experience preferred
Must be 21 years of age

Catering and commissary supplies
Appearance of the cabin
Report any discrepancies to the Lead Flight Attendant.
Perform a security check in the cabin, closets, galleys, and lavatories for any suspicious items or any unidentifiable items and reporting any finding to the Lead Flight Attendant.
Assist flight crew in manifesting passengers including any special information needed for international flights.
Ensure passenger personal items are stowed properly in the overhead bins or under seats before closing main cabin door. Ensure pathways are clear to emergency exists and all equipment and supplies are secured for taxi, takeoff, and landing.
Ensures passengers are briefed regarding the following:
Smoking, location of emergency exit row seating, and seating requirements, use of oxygen, seatbelts, seat backs, tray tables, aisle path lighting, and life preservers and rafts (as applicable).
Perform such other duties assigned by the Lead Flight Attendant of the flight.
While in training with OAI or traveling while employed with OAI, your personal appearance is a very important part of your representation of professionalism and your ability to follow company compliance guidelines. Appropriate business attire, proper makeup, conservative hairstyles, with no extreme colors, for both females and males is company policy. You will be taught the appearance guidelines early in training and will be expected to follow those guidelines throughout training and your career with OAI.
Pay Scale:
$18.05 per flight hour with a 65 hour per month guarantee

Aer Lingus
I read on other sites the turmoil going on between stalwart union supporters and those who really just do not care. If it does not affect you personally, should you care? Should flight attendants that are not involved be cautioned about speaking out against the EI-UA flying? Is it professional for flight attendants in uniform at the airport to call the EI flight attendants derogatory names? Is it right for pilots from other airlines to attempt to block in the EI aircraft when it is cleared to leave the gate?
For me, all of this is immature, and far from professional. But then I am on the outside looking in. I do not work for a union carrier, I did but left them about 10 years ago. Do I think airlines need unions? Absolutely!
I just think calling the EI flight attendants "scabs" is unprofessional. I have friends that fly for EI, and they love it, they are not going to quit. What they don't like is the walk through the terminal at IAD.... It is truly sad when mature, professional flight attendants have to make that walk miserable for people who want a job. There are no UA flight attendants on furlough, they are on voluntary leave...at least that is what I read on another site. So why is everyone in an uproar about the EI flight attendants taking the UA jobs?
