Attending an Information Session and applying online is a

FLIGHT ATTENDANT
JOB OBJECTIVE
Responsible for the safety and service of passengers on board
Mesaba Airlines aircraft and compliance with all Company policies,
procedures and Federal regulations. Maintains a high level of
energy while working independently and in a team environment.
Represents Mesaba Airlines in a positive manner in all interactions.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Achieve and maintain FAA flight attendant certification and perform
duties as a flight attendant.
Maintain reliability and on-time departures to support airline
operational performance.
Adhere to established uniform and appearance guidelines.
Project a professional image and attitude that commands respect
for the position and Company.
Perform basic procedures of check-in, pre-flight, boarding, pre-
departure, inflight, and arrival per safety and service standards.
Maintain all safety related functions while on duty including;
passenger safety demonstration, emergency equipment
verification, securing the aircraft cabin, and handling any aircraft
emergency.
Handles passenger situations using leadership skills per Company
guidelines in situations including medical events, special needs
customers and security situation.
Maintain the Company cleanliness focus by inspecting, grooming
and maintaining aircraft cabin interior.
Ability to handle customer service challenges per departmental
customer service standards.
Comply with departmental procedures for on board food and
beverage service, sales and deposit requirements.
Assist customers as needed with location for carry-on luggage to
meet Federal regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous public contact/customer service experience preferred
Must be 21 years of age
Skills Required:
Possess good verbal communication skills
Must be able to read, write, and speak the English Language
Customer service abilities
Working Conditions:
Primarily on the aircraft in a pressurized cabin environment
Varied locations including airports, hotels, crew rooms, ramp areas
and domiciles
Working Hours/Schedule:
Must be willing and able to work a variety of days and shifts
including mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to maintain the minimum required monthly flight hours
Must be able to be away from home for extended days at a
time
Training Requirements:
Able to successfully pass FAA approved flight attendant training
program
Able to successfully pass Inflight Operating Experience training
(IOE) on board the aircraft
Able to successfully pass FAA approved flight attendant annual
recurrent training program
Able to successfully pass any additional required training per
Company and/or FAA
Other Requirements/Qualifications:
Have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential
functions of the position
Height is less than 6 feet tall
Must possess a valid Passport
Have not been convicted of a DWI/DUI in the past 10 years or
have obtained a waiver.
Authorization to work in the United States
Must be able to fulfill a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
required ten-year work history and a fingerprint criminal
background check
Must be able to pass FAA pre-employment and random drug tests
Must be able to lift 35 pounds on a repetitive basis
Must be able to stand and walk continuously during work shift
Must be able to bend and twist frequently while handling luggage,
beverages, and snacks
Must be able to reach up to 65 inches tall with both arms
Must be able to have a knuckle to knuckle arm span of 57 inches
or greater
Must be able to endure repetitive variances in altitude and cabin
pressure
Must be able to push and move a beverage or meal cart
Must be able to serve and travel onboard with all in flight food and
beverage products
Must be able to work a minimum of 75 flight-time hours per month
Must be able to check and properly use all emergency equipment
in the aircraft
Must be willing and able to work a variety of days and shifts
including mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be constantly alert and have the ability to act in an
emergency situation
Must meet FAA requirements of being able to clasp the
jumpseat/seatbelt/harness assembly without modification in any
manner including use of a seat belt extension to achieve closure.
Must meet Canadian Immigration entry requirements.
•Starting Pay:
Guaranteed minimum payment of 75 flight hours per month
•Current wage is $15.84 per flight hour, with annual increases
•($15.84 x 75 flight hours = $1,188.00)
Average income for first year is approximately $16,000
