Description
AirTran Airways is a scheduled passenger airline that
operates 365 days a year. Flight Attendants primary
responsibility will be the safety of the crew and
passengers while onboard the flight. A Flight Attendant is
expected to consistently deliver friendly, enthusiastic and
professional service, while promoting regulatory
compliance and safety. Flight Attendants must be
prepared to work any assigned shift, which may include
weekends, evenings, holidays and overtime when
necessary.

Shifts are bid monthly, and are awarded based on
seniority. In addition, AirTran Airways Flight Attendants
must be prepared to work reserve duty (on-call) and be
available in as little as two hours after being notified of an
assignment.

Flight Attendants must be willing to relocate to any
assigned crew base. Current crew bases are Atlanta,
Milwaukee, and Orlando. Flight Attendants may also have
to work extended hours due to operational needs.

Role and Responsibilities
•Flight Attendants must be prepared to provide leadership
and direction to assist passengers safely during non-
routine operations.
•Flight Attendants may be called upon to care for ill,
injured, or incapacitated passengers and may administer
first aid in compliance with government and AirTran
Airways standards.
•Flight Attendants greet and serve passengers, while
making safety the number one goal.
•Flight Attendants are ultimately responsible for carrying
out safety regulations and procedures as specified in the
FARs and by Company policies and procedures.
•Ensure all customers and other Flight Attendants comply
with Federal Aviation Regulations at all times during
aircraft operations.
•Flight Attendants work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive
environment that requires high energy and constant face-
to-face interaction with customers. It is also a Flight
Attendant's responsibility to ensure effective
communication between the Flight Deck and cabin crew.
•Flight Attendants will be responsible for in-flight service,
which includes serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic
beverages and packaged snacks.

Qualifications

•Ability to deliver friendly, enthusiastic and professional
service, everyday.
•Must be able to provide a positive Customer Service
experience, consistently on every flight, every day.
•A minimum of 2 years in a customer service position with
demonstrated positive face-to-face customer interaction.
•Positive professional disposition and appearance.
•Ability to accept personal responsibility and provide quick
action in resolving concerns or issues aboard the aircraft.
•Excellent work ethic and demonstrated ability to act with
purpose and urgency.
•Minimum age 21.
•High school diploma or G.E.D required; 2 years of college
preferred.
•Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English
language. Bilingual or multilingual is a plus.
•Excellent communication skills that include speaking in
large group and individual settings.
•Ability to work any available schedule to include nights,
weekends, holidays, and overtime.
•Ability to work indoors with strength and stamina to
endure standing for entire shift.
•Minimum height 5'2" without shoes; maximum height 6'2"
with shoes.
•Height and weight proportionate to maintain professional
appearance; body size cannot exceed specific aircraft
dimensions (example: jumpseat, cabin aisle, and
emergency exits).
•Ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds over head.
•Ability to maneuver comfortably in an aisle width of 20
inches.
•Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment
DOT drug screening.
•Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment
physical examination that reveals no physical or mental
limitations that would impair ability to perform.
•Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment
full history background check.
•Must have a valid Passport and the ability to enter and exit
international destinations.
•Routine or emergency job duties.

Compensation Schedule for years 1 - 3*
Pay based on 70 flight hours per month
$19.25 per flight hour - 0 to 6 months
$21.00 per flight hour - 7 to 12 months
$23.00 per flight hour - 13 months to 24 months (2 years)
$24.00 per flight hour - 25 months to 36 months (3 years)

*Monthly guarantee of 70 flight hours.

Training Schedule, Training Pay
Flight Attendant training takes place at our Atlanta, Georgia
In-Flight Education Center. This program consists of 21
days of accelerated and comprehensive classroom and
on-the-job training which will include FAA mandated safety
and over water evacuation training. Trainees will be
evaluated through written assessments, oral and hands-
on competency checks. A passing score of 90% or better
is required on all assessments.

AirTran provides, double occupancy, housing
accommodations, with the Flight Attendant trainee being
responsible for all meals and incidentals while in training.

Upon successful completion of all training requirements,
which includes Initial Operating Experience (IOE), trainees
will receive a training bonus at a rate of $8.75 per hour.
